I was away for more than a month during May to do a holiday in Europe. Although this road trip up to the north from Frankfurt was quite last minute planned for, it was an amazing journey, so much so that I would want to revisit the places again in very near future.
On this road trip, we started off from Frankfurt to Hamburg and made a side trip to Cuxhaven. After which, we crossed the border to Denmark where we eventually made a turnaround in Copenhagen. Cuxhaven is a small town at the North end of Germany. It is one of the few areas to go if you want to see the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. If you ever rent a car to tour around Germany, you must include this in your itinerary (at least for Asian where we only have a few good beaches).
Venice and Naples are polar opposite. I was warned that things will get messier as we travel south. It was very true. While I enjoyed the serenity in Venice, Naples gave me a huge surprise as it was totally out of my expectation. Many may know that Venice is filled with canals., but I guess only a few knows that it is like a maze too. As for Naples, I think that the whole place and its society is quite in a chaos.
Just before the last Christmas, me and Den did a one week Italy tour. Personally, I think December is one of the best month to visit Italy, factor in the crowd and cost. Our round trip ticket on Lufthansa from Munich to Rome was costing about 100 Euro p.p. We visited 6 cities and the average one way train ticket was costing around 15 Euro p.p. If you are interested to do a one week tour in Italy similar to what I had, I think the lowest minimum cost you can go could be around S$1500 p.p. [Round trip flight from Singapore on Oman Air est. S$800, train tickets around Italy est. S$300, Airbnb for 7 nights est. S$400]
I am going to blog about my Italy trip in 3 separate posts. In the remaining two posts, I am going to share my thoughts and some of the best photos that we took at Rome, Venice and Napoli.
I have been to Germany for a couple of times, and Berlin is the only German city that surprised me the most. Just a few metro stations ride, I saw two different sides of Berlin. They were like the South and North Korea, one is beautiful and modernized, one is dull and outmoded. While you may think that accommodation in Europe is expensive, you will be surprised if you make a quick browse through at agoda.com. The price is actually similar to Bangkok.

Last December before I flew to Taiwan for the third time, I had spent a lot time doing research on the best food places in Taipei. During my 10 days of food spam, there were 6 places that were so special that I will revisit again; even the locals were queuing for it. Click on to find out which are the 6 food places that you MUST VISIT in Taipei.
Number 5 is the BEST.
Many apologies for not updating my blog periodically this month. It has been a really busy and eventful month for me. If you have been following my Instagram, you would probably be aware that I was away for some staycations and an oversea trip. Just last weekend when I returned from my holidays, my eldest sister got married.
Frankly speaking, I thought I am quite emotionally strong. I did not tear when I read the letter from my family during my BMT field camp (One of the toughest moments in my life) . However, I had been tearing quite a few times for my sister's wedding. The first drop was when I saw my sister in her wedding dress. It felt as though she is leaving the family and no longer going to be part of us anymore. The second time I teared was when both my sister and her husband cried on the stage while they were thanking their parents. I could really feel how grateful they are for this marriage. The third time I teared was when I re-watched this video. It is a short highlights of the wedding day. I totally did not expect it to turn out so well and touching,
Meanwhile as I am preparing the next blog post on my Cathay Pacific Business Class flight, I would like to share this video with you.
If you ever have the chance to visit Munich, you should never miss this place. Located about 16 KM away from the city center, Dachau Concentration Camp was the first Nazi Concentration Camp in Germany, opened in 1933. During its 12 years of operations before the American troop liberated the survivors, more than 200,000 people from the European region were brought to this camp. Many were Jews, homosexuals, criminals and political opponents. In this entry, I will be sharing a glimpse of this camp.
In recent years, there is growing popularity for Oktoberfest in Singapore. Around this time in early October, more bars and eateries are decorating up in the Oktoberfest setting. However, have you ever wonder what a real Oktoberfest is like? The real Oktoberfest in Munich is more than just beer and German food. It is the world's largest annual funfair, gathering millions of people over 16 days.
